A More sustainable panama

a campaign dedicated to create activities, benefits, & culture to improve recycling and waste management in Panama.

VISION FOR PROJECT

The opportunity to create a robust system of recycling and waste management has emerged in recent years. What it lacks is that it must have a solid foundation, active support in every sector of the community, and evaluation at every step.

This waste management model is aimed at being a nationwide campaign under the title “A More Sustainable Panama”. This campaign is being forecasted as a 2 year project to roll-out and 3-5 years to see long-lasting results.

The campaign will be divided into two phases: a Deposit Return Scheme, also known as a DRS (Phase 1), and Separation-at-Source (Phase 2,) which will involve recycling implemented at households and businesses alike.

For the business

Companies involved with the concept My Product, My Responsibility, do so understanding that it is necessary to assume a share of responsibility for that product, which after its use, becomes part of the general contamination problem; The company contributes a fee to the network in order to support the communication and education strategy of the campaign and of the deposits at the plastic return points.

for the consumer

Consumers contribute to the concept My Purchase, My Opportunity. With this idea, the concept is developed that what we discard is not garbage, but the opportunity for a store credit, a subway ticket or cash. In this way, beyond the education process of the campaign, the consumer sees a benefit, beyond the useful life of the product.

for the informal collaborator

Develop with informal merchants the concept Your Waste, My Possibility. Through the campaign we promote the possibility that informal traders can be part of the value chain in the logistics of use and transformation of the products that are discarded; in this way the circular economy is promoted.
